Everett McFall requested at interview with Franca and I for his program on January 30, 2008, at 2:30 Central time (12:30 Pacific). Listen to his weekly podcast, “The Veterans Forum”, which is archived on http://internetvoicesradio.com/ Hope you can tune in to listen or download the interview from the archived programs later on. And visit the Internet Voices Radio web site to see all the programming selections - quite a variety, something for everyone! Holy Names HS Franca and I participated in the school’s “Peace and Justice Day.” Presentations took place from 10 - 2, and the students chose which ones they were most interested in attending. Theme was “Three Cups of Tea,” which fit well with Franca’s Story, since it is a young girl’s version of “Tea With Mussolini.” What a fun day! Sons of Italy - Cataldo Chapter, Bremerton, WA Franca and I attended the Cataldo Chapter’s evening meeting on April 16, 2008. Social hour was at 5:30 pm, a fabulous canaloni (sp?) dinner at 6:30, and we gave our presentation and took questions from the floor. The contact is Joanne Ziereki (not sure I spelled that right) in Bremerton. Diane Kinman and Wimer Publishing moved April 14, 2008 - see new phone number …moved back to Mercer Island from Newcastle. Downsized but good this time, with little room to spare, but - hey, this may prepare me for life abroad some day… maybe when the Euro tanks? New phone number is 206-453-5800; fax 206-453-5801; and can always be found on the web page under Contact Information. Mercer Island Senior Foundation Fund Raiser at Island Books - and Franca’s Story was there! Franca and I participated in the fund raiser for the foundation by signing books that evening. With two other authors present, the Mercer Island Senior Foundation came within just a few dollars of the total raised last year. That’s amazing, considering that most charitable organizations are down 20 percent in dollars coming in. The new paperback version of Franca’s Story seems to be a big hit. Spotlight Breakfast - Women's University Club Diane Kinman’s career path took her from chicken rancher and park ranger to business development consultant to award-winning author and publisher. Her life’s dream: write a book. To do it, she needed classes, critique, creativity, cash, and focus. A Mercer Island resident, she is currently working on a creative non-fiction book titled Condo Divas. Everett Women's Book Club For info, contact Sandy Vandall, 360-568-4912. Diane and Franca will discuss the writing of Franca's Story: Survival in World War II Italy.
